Anne M Powers is a professional, independent genealogist and historian with a special interest in eighteenth century Derby. Her latest publication on Derby history is Silk Threads and Ironworks : The Other Wrights of Derby.
She collaborated with Jonathan Powers on The Rediscovery of Lucy Hardcastle and provided genealogical background for The Philosopher Lecturing on the Orrery : John Arden of Derby, Bath and Beverley.
She has a BA in History from the University of Sussex, an MSc in Computer Science, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Genealogical, Palaeographic and Heraldic Studies from the University of Strathclyde.

Her interest in genealogy was reinforced by a connection with Jamaica that no-one in her family knew about, and resulted in the publishing of A Parcel of Ribbons a collection of eighteenth century family letters written between England and Jamaica. She also set up a website of the same name.
As a spin off from this she wrote the biography of Rachael Fanny Antonina Dashwood, the illegitimate daughter of Sir Francis Dashwood. The Female Infidel : The Vindication of Fanny Dashwood.
The Female Infidel “reveals remarkable similarities to modern ‘trial by media, and stalking crime, finally bringing Fanny the recognition and justice she deserves.” Family Tree Magazine (March 2019)
She has published papers in the Derbyshire Miscellany, the magazine of the Derbyshire Family History Society and the Journal of Genealogy and Family History.
